ID of console grab rail for 1989 Outrage 18

Postby BBS » Wed May 25, 2022 2:27 pm

I was in some rougher seas this weekend and my console railing snapped in half, in the upper stanchion where the bolt that holds it to the stanchion is located. As it is boating season, I am hoping to make a temporary repair by sliding the parted pieces onto a solid rod then drilling and tapping the rail onto the solid center, The seam would end up in the stanchion. I could then work on a replacement this winter.

My boat is 3 hours away and I forgot to measure the ID before I left. Does anyone know ID of the tubing that is used for the grab rail, or what gauge tubing was used to make the rails? I would like to show up with the solid cylinder ready to go next time I am fishing,
