Below is an illustration showing how the red-green lens assembly uses a gasket to keep out water from the interior of a combined red-green sidelights navigation lamp made by PERKO and often used in mid-1980's Boston Whaler boats.

OLDKENT--Many thanks for the excellent illustrations. You have revealed some great details of the very commonly used red-green combined sidelight lamp often mounted at the bow of Boston Whaler boats. This thread is a good example of the purpose of the website: to collect and organize information on the covered topics.

I am very impressed with the vertical mounting of the miniature electric light bulb. I think that is called a Festoon bulb, or more precisely, a double-ended 12-Volt Festoon bulb. The vertical orientation of the bulb filament should produce very uniform lighting over the range of horizontal arc (12.5-degrees on each side from dead ahead) in which the light is to be shown.

PERKO is known for quality navigation lighting.
