13-footer Hull Repair at Bow

The previous owner of my 1972 SPORT 13 reconfigured combined sidelights navigation lamp at the bow.

Give me advice on how to repair what was done.

I plan to install a replica of the OEM lamp.

The easy method:

remove whatever was added
preserve electrical conductors
abrade deck to smooth surface
fabricate escutcheon to cover all the damage, possibly using a material like KING StarBoard
purchase OEM replacement, not a replica
install new lamp on new escutcheon, hiding all the prior work
