1985 MONTAUK 17 Bow Railing Base Repair

Postby Teleni » Mon Feb 13, 2023 4:09 pm

The base area where the center [stanchion] of the bow railing is mounted on my 1985 17' Montauk [has been damaged]. The two screw fasteners that hold the [stanchion] are loose. I removed the [stanchion], and I noticed that there is an [embedded] aluminum plate with two holes laminated [into the hull] there.

Give me advice on how to repair the base for the railing stanchion.

Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • Over drill the holes.
  • Fill the holes with Locktite Marine Epoxy.
  • Drill for the screws and reinstall the railing base then the vertical rail.
