I am installing two (cushioned seat back) rod holders on [the forward side of the center console on] my 1989 MONTAUK 17.

Q1: what is appropriate height and width dimension for where on the front of the center console I should install the rod holders?

Perhaps the best way is to have my wife sit on the cooler and line up where the cushions should be located.

But I figured I should ask here first.

I found installation instructions. I will follow the instructions unless someone on here tells me I should do otherwise.

On my 1987 Montauk the top of the horizontal teak part of the rod holder assembly is almost touching the lower edge of the windshield.
