Mercury Outboard: Removing Marks from Aluminum Cleaner

Postby Kend » Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:50 pm

Q1: what product can remove the damage to the finish of the black Mercury outboard engine caused by the use of aluminum cleaner-brightner?

I have already tried cleaners, and I have tried rubbing out the finish of the black Mercury outboard engine, but so far nothing has worked.

BACKSTORY

I over-sprayed aluminum cleaner-brightener onto a black Mercury outboard engine. This caused a damage to the outboard engine finish what looks ook like a water stain all along the sides of the [engine].

Q2: what is the active ingredient in your aluminum spray brightener?

If [the aluminum cleaner-brightner product was intended for use] on bare aluminum, it may have an acid in it. The acid would etch of the engine paint if not washed off immediately.
