20-year-old Gasoline Fuel

The fuel tank on a 1984 [no MODEL FAMILY] V-20 had 20-year-old gasoline—or something that 20-years ago was gasoline.
I took off the [fuel tank level] sending unit. I siphoned out all that old fuel. I put a camera inside the tank. What I saw was less than beautiful.
Q1: how should I proceed?

Without telling readers what you saw and what you are aiming to accomplish, to offer advice on how to get there will be difficult.

Unless brand new, the inside of a 20 year old gas tank will always look "less than beautiful" The question of how much less needs to be better described. As for question #1: Be happy the tank is not leaking fuel (that always falls into the "less than beautiful category), put some gas in the boat and try to reverse 20 years of neglect. Another option is to get another tank installed and sleep well at night. Last option is to sell the boat to some other sucker.
