I have now updated our Nantucket with a E-TEC G2 150 HP engine, and am now trying to nail down the propeller for this boat.

The dealer installed a Viper 14.75 x 17-pitch propeller, but WOT put engine speed over 6,000-RPM. Then he installed a Viper 14.75 x19, and the time to plane suffered and WOT only 5,500/RPM.

I wanted to be sure that the engine height was correct so I shot this video. The height was real close. A prop with more lift should be optimal.

We will now try a Rebel 17, which is know for more lift and less slip.

Check out the RX-4 propeller series, they are remarkable on most boats. Speed is good and the motors may be mounted higher for less drag.

According to everything I have read the engine height should be set to where the anti-ventilation plate is just out of the water and not submerged shown in video.

I did finally find the part number for RX4 16P prop (177340). I will run the Rebel 17P and if that is not optimal then I will order a RX4 16P which is not returnable. I am pretty sure that 18P RX4 would be too much for the ETEC 150 hp on the Nantucket 190.

That [mentioned advice about height of the anti-ventilation plate relative to the water flow around it] is correct.

On most planing boats an E-TEC G2 can be mounted two-holes higher than the former engine was mounted.
