180 VENTURA 125-HP
What boat speed and engine speed is expected for a 2002 Ventura 180 with Mercury 125 Saltwater?

While not exact, this informationt helps give you a ballpark. I would extrapolate from SOSMERC's performance details to say you should expect to reach 39-43 mph at WOT of 5250 with a maintained engine, rigged and propped appropriately with a smooth bottom, light load and trimmed out.

Thanks PHIL T. Your response is appreciated.
Re: 180 VENTURA 125-HP
A Mercury 125-HP engine is somewhat infamous. It is a four-cylinder engine that runs on only two cylinders in lower engine speed operation and then switches to four cylinders for higher speed operation. When running on only two cylinders the compression is the two non-working cylinders is still in place, so the engine becomes a two-cylinder engine driving a two-cylinder air compressor.
Ironically, the source for the boat speed estimate is SOSMERC. You should read what SOSMERC had to say about the Mercury 125-HP engine. Before you visit the link below, you should know that SOSMERC was a Mercury engine mechanic and was very familiar with the engine. See
