Can a new 2022 Mercury Smartcraft gauge replace a c.2003 Smartcraft gauge with just plug-and-play installation to the same wiring harness?

BACKSTORY
The liquid crystal displays in my c.2003 Smartcraft gauges are "shot", and the gauges need to be replaced. The gauges are on a 2003 Boston Whaler boat and connect to a Mercury OptiMax 135-HP engine in Houston, Texas.

You will need to consult an expert on Mercury Smartcraft gauges and wiring harnesses. I am not aware of any really good source of public information about the details of Mercury Smartcraft gauges and wiring harnesses. Mercury seems to keep that information in very limited distribution. Often their own dealers seem to be unaware of these details. Try to find a really well-informed source to get the answer.
