Tracy -

Due to the age and not so much the hull style, be sure to check for:

- any evidence of dry rot in the transom

- fuel tank (especially if it's the internal tank) integrity

I have a 1973 model, and those two items were bad. Fixing the rot was a bit more expensive then purchasing a new tank.

Overall, I love the hull design and room, and weight for trailering.

Best - Don

Tracy --- one other area to check is the through hull drain tubes --- make sure they are solid and haven't corroded just up inside the hull allowing water to enter ---

Welcome to the forum --- I might add

I have a 1972 21 outrage.
Mine doesn't have a built in fuel tank, but
rather two saddle tanks above decks.
Just this year the drain tube in mine did
corrode out. spent a season in the water
before I realized what happened!
I love this boat. other than minor maintanence (especially to keep the running
lights working) no problems. Spent its entire life in salt water.
Buy it!

I second Michael's advice... buy the boat! You will fall in love! Clark
