According to this sites "16/17 foot hull reference section" BW only offered the Desert Tan color on Montauk models from 1973-1993. I currently am the proud owner of what the dealer called a "1995" Desert Tan Montauk 17. Have I been hosed by my dealer? I don't think so however I am curious. The last 2 numbers on my serial number are 95. Any feed back would be appreciated. Meanwhile we will continue to tame Lake Michigan. Thanks

There was a short period, and 1995 sounds about right, when BW brought back the tan color. Only it was a DIFFERENT Dasert Tan.
More tannish in color. Somebody screwed up on the color match, or maybe it was intentional, but it was definitely different. They made some 13, 15 & 17' hulls in this color, then went back to white.

Might this color be less desirable? I got such a good deal on the boat that I wonder. It sounds like it may be a rare boat. The only hang up I had when buying the boat was the color but the price made up the difference.

There's a '94 Montauk here in OK that is that funky tan color. It appears to have too much orange tint in the tan color. Really noticible with the red Whaler graphics.
