My opinins, which are my own and are biased at times seems to be getting my in trouble with certain members. Rather than fighting over my opinions here on the forum I am gone.
I will continue to read the forum but will but no longer contribute, or answer any questions.
If anyone has a question that I can answer please e-mail me. RPete2001@aol.com
jimh you have done a great job of maintaining this forum, sorry but I feel I have to leave.

Dick, don`t let some of the thin skinned members force you out!!! If that was the case i would have been out long ago. Alot of New members have no clue as what I speak, but let`s just say, I have given Brunswick and the Newer Whalers a good spanking at times and have been villified alot of times, but I stand my ground and will not change my opinion of the Post-Classic Whalers. Stick around Dude!!! Jack.

Dick has too much practical marine and Whaler experience to offer to feel this way.
He should reconsider and not let a few out of line cocky comments send him away.
Come on tell him to stay!

I read your post a few hours ago. I wasnít going to reply. Most of my posts are questions and not answers or advice. There are many, many members of this forum. All, when giving advice try to offer a solution to someoneís problem. There are 10-12 members whose solutions have a much higher level of credibility to me. You are one those. I have learned so much about boating, boat maintenance and boating safety on this forum. Which piece came from you? I donít know. But I do know that I pay attention to your posts because I know that they are based on a tremendous amount of experience in a variety of boating occupations. I will miss your voice.

Dick, which posts exactly have you found do distasteful? I read most of the forums and haven't seen anything particularly abrasive lately.
I've enjoyed your contributions even though, as you say, your biases show through and don't allow you to be entirely objective on certain subjects. I think we are all guilty of this at one time of another. Most of us here are able to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
Most folks who disappear don't bother to say goodbye, so I'll assume you're looking for someone to say that they wish you would stay.

Dick, do what you have to. but I too have enjoyed your post. and wish you would stay also.

If you feel you have to go, go fishing....go boating...go build something...
But then come back and continue to share your experience and knowledge with us.

Doug said it well. I value your input and hope you reconsider and continue to post on the forum.

I hope you will continue to post in situations where you feel your input is needed and desired. I value you opnions, and your experience.

Unfortunately I have no idea why you would feel like this. I find it disturbing that you feel the need to go to such an extreme in reaction to what will amount to just a moment that will pass.
Please reconsider, I have found your posts helpful and supportive, I feel that you are a good person and you have a voice that should be heard. Your perspective is welcomed and experience is a wonderful asset on these forums.
Feel assured that there are more members that appreciate you than would rather fight with you! Stay and Post for these members and those yet to become members. We all have had our detractors, some think it is nothing more than a game, some just are frustrated, some are ignorant, and some have valid points, some are just fanatics.
Most of them are no more than dogs barking in the street, just making noise for a reaction. Ignore these and donít let it bother you or push you into doing something is not what you want to do. You do not want to become a lurker otherwise why would you start this thread? Dick, stay true to yourself. If I am wrong and this course of action is what you really want, then good luck and Iíll miss you.

Having the experience of a previous Whaler dealer has been of great value to the site. In that regard, losing the benefit of that knowledge on this forum is most disheartening. Dick: wish there was something we could say to make you change your mind.
What a strange contradiction... the people that you'd like to see stay away just keep coming back and now someone who has helped make the site great doesn't want to say.
Good luck to you, Dick. Hope you reconsider.

Dick, Isn't obvious from all these positive posts that you are a well respected member. Your opinions and experience are a valuable part of this forum. Please stick around and don't let and let a few empty barrels keep you away. Regards, Jay

Dick, you were a big help to me last year when I bought my whaler. I ended up not buying the Newport you have me the lead on, but it was an important part of the process.
Also, directing me to the Secloc manual for my Merc enabled me to answer another member's tilt and trim question, which was the first time I'd really given anything substantive back to the forum.
So, thanks. You have been an important contributor here as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking forward to meeting you in July. And I do hope you see something on the forum so compelling that you change your mind and jump back in.

Dick your one of the people I really trust on this site, some are too influinced by brand loyality, IMHO (not the B.W. brand). Doug Burton took the thoughts I was having and beat me to the punch but I couldn't agree with him more. I've also gotten peeved at a couple of coments made to me but I've considered the source and picked my chin up and carried on. Please stick around, dumbies like me need guys like you to keep our classics purring.

Guess you are sticking to your statement.....hope you are reading this though.
What did I miss? I have not been active due to other interests and getting my 13 ready for sale so I have no clue what happened. If I can make it on this site being the opinionated jek that I am....anyone can!
Hope you start talking again.

Dick- I agree with Biggggs. What happened. Can't find the incident. You certainly helped me on my hydraulic steering issue. Thanks. David

I am assuming (only assuming, mind you) that the thread in Repair's, regarding towing a Montauk with a Mills Cover, could be part of the problem.
All I know is that we don't want to lose Dick's participation over a such a minor squabble. ANY contributor on a Forum like this has to be a little thick skinned, as we all the say the wrong thing some time or another, and take things the wrong way. I am SURE none of the highly respected people posting to the thread would want Dick to not continue. Most of us don't even think of taking sides in such a discussion, and are just interested in the varying opinions and statments, some of which we will definitely disagree. So what, and no one should be personally offended for very long. It's all qucily forgotten as new subjects continually appear. Just look at this one. No one could find it!
AND, for another controversial opinion on trailing a Whaler with a cover, I don't do it. Never have for over 30 years. But I've cleaned tons of bugs off the boats during that time. The radar arch on the 25 is the best bug zapper ever invented! Hope I haven't offended anybody "boat cover trailors" with this statement. At least it's not intended that way. That's what this community of Boston Whaler afficionados is all about. Maybe we need to have a National Convention. We'd all have a jolly great time.

The thing about internet boards that I like and at the same time dislike is the fact that you do not know who you're listening to. I can't tell if you're short or tall, rich or poor, race, creed, religion, or if you've taken a bath lately. I also can't tell if you're being sincere, funny, sarcastic or a smart ass. Unfortunately we all have good and bad days; but you can't tell which day it is for me. We learn from each other - all opinions mean something. Stay!

Dick - I've been away for about a week and read your first message and thought - boy what a bummer - as you have expertise and knowledge that I, and I'm sure, many-many others have benefitted from many times. And then reading that you have reconsidered has made my day. Thanks Dick and I look forward to seeing you in July. --- Jerry/Idaho

Dick - Good to hear from you. At least nobody on this site ever told you, as they did me, that your Whaler looked like it belonged to "some Third World Dictator".

Dick, don't go and welcome back.... I've been scarce for the last several weeks and somehow missed what was going on. I've got to tell ya', I saw some names coming to your defense, I have not seen for some time. These were some of the original cast of characters. Great to have you back on board.

Someone told you your BW looked like it belonged to a 3rd World Dictator?
Is it for sale? Maybe I can use that one for duckhunting also.
Regarding those who have offended you--they need to get a life even if it's not their own.

Thanks Guys, it's nice to have friends. It sure would be a kick to have a national rendezvous and meet everyone.
I'm going to uncover the montauk this weekend and get it ready, sure hope the inside doesn't look like it belongs in a third world country.

A lot of people think the PNW is a third world country....LOL

What do you mean, no boating waters?
OK, the dirt ramp at Beaver Lake is a bit rough, and they don't allow gas motors, but is's kinda pretty. And they do stock it with trout just before the April opening!
Oh well, I do have a power washer you can use to get the mold off your Montauk.
