I am a novice boater and am thinking about picking up a 19ft montauk to primarily fish boston harbor. Can anyone please give me some feedback as to how suitable this boat would be? Does it ride dry, is it stable, how good is it for me, my wife (yeah i have to take her sometimes) and two teenages.
I noticed that the boat does not have a fish box, I cant figure out if the deck is self bailing (salesman says yes), and there is no raw water wash down. So if you own one how do you deal with this stuff. IS it important? AS a novice, I get about a million opinions about everything and now i am CONFUSED!!!! Thanks for your help in advance.

The 190 Montauk is fine but I would suggest you also consider the 190 Outrage. The Outrage is more capable than the Montauk in big water but also will be good in the shallows and bays.
The Outrage and probably the Montauk as well can have a water washdown system added to the boat. It is a relatively easy and inexpensive installation.
Either boat will be enjoyed by you and your family.

Thanks...I was think that might be a good way to go. Any idea about price differential? What would be a minimal configuration?

One can go to the Whaler website and get a price on the boats. Click on the build a boat section and go from there. I think generally speaking the Outrages are more expensive.
