I will be installing an original RPS to my '76 Montauk. Looking for useful tips on 1)Distance from base of the console and 2) best way to fasten to the floor. I have seen the prevous posts on raising the RPS to accomodate the gas tank caps, but do you first attach the "riser" to the floor and then the RPS to the "riser"? How many screws and what size? Thanks in advance for any and all info in advance.

As for distance from the console, just find the amount of standing space, and seated space, that is comfortable for you.

First screw the riser into the floor, with screws penetrating the glass, and into the plywood backing, about 1", no more.

Then screw the seat bases to the risers.
