Does anyone know for sure if an omc binnacle control will work with a new suzuki? Maybe I can modify the cable end connects like with a morse. I have an omc control with the integrated keyswitch so a new suzuki throttle control will be too small for the hole in my console. I'm thinking 140 4 stroke now! Thanks

Cover the hole with an appropriate sized piece of Starboard or teak and then cut a new hole in that to fit the Suzuki throttle control.

Use Teleflex or Morse 3300 style cables with the Johnson/Evinrude connector kit on the control end, the 3300 cable will attach to the Suzuki as is. This way you can still use your OMC control.

You can do it. I had suzuki controls and prop on my OMC.

the dealer just told me that the control probably won't work because the 4 stroke cables push and the 2 stroke pull (or vise versa). Anybody been through this?

Dunno! but it would seem to me that you then use the throttle as shift and the shift as throttle. I had a problem with my 30 Yamaha because they both pulled or something.

I have never heard of controls being different for a 4 stroke. The Merc control on my Montauk with a 4 stroke is the same as for a 2 stroke.

George, I have a deposit on a Suzuki 70hp 4S, when I saw the post it thought this would be a good way to save a few bucks. Not So! I got the same info from my dealer as you.

I'm not concerned about the $ it is the difference in the size of the control. I wish suzuki made a throttle with an integrated keyswitch like my omc. I'm not too crazy about making a mounting block out of another material. Because of this issue and a few others I'm now less enthusiastic as before. A Johnson dealer in my area gave me a pretty good price on a new 150 carb and will give me something for my old beater in trade. I'm back on the fence I think. I will wait for the first sign of a dealer or manufacturer incentive.

Incentives on boats? They give you a dollar they will subtract three from your trade or add 4 to your installation. Don't believe the hype. The colder it gets the more they need to feed the family. You might THINK you're getting a deal.
