I got [a 115-HP Yamaha 4-stroke] last year, and [I] can't figure out which [propeller] is best. [The engine is in use on] my 1987 18-Outrage. Any help is much apprecicated.

Dear Shssaildue,

If you read through the hundreds of articles here on the forum in which people have solicited advice on propellers, you will discover a clear trend: in order to get advice on propeller selection it is necessary for the person asking for advice to furnish information about the boat, the motor, and the current propeller.

It will be be necessary for you to tell us:

--lower unit gear ratio of your engine
--maximum rated crankcase speed
--crankcase speed with current propeller at wide open throttle
--accurate boat speed at wide open throttle
--current propeller pitch, number of blades, and diameter
--total weight of boat, motor, fuel, gear, passengers, etc., when making these observations.

I invite you to furnish this information and append it to this thread.

I also have a 1987 18' on Cape Cod with a Yamaha 115hp (but it is a 1987 2 stroke....still runs great though with hopefully a few years in her). I run a 13x19. Am currently looking to pick up a 13 1/4 x 17 for skiing with the kids for a better hole shot. Otherwise have been pleased with the 13x19 setup.

Where do you keep the boat?

I have a house right on the cape cod bay in Sandwich and a small tidal creek behind the house i keep my boat in the creek.
