I own a 13 foot whaler with a 40 horse mercury engine. Does anyone know what pitch the prop should be? I have no instuments to tell speed etc... The boat came with a 17 pitch prop, but after I bent that one, the mariner ordered me a replacement prop and that one is a 15 pitch. I had the 17 repaired and now I own two. Which one would you all recommend for me to use? Many thanks, Gary

Gary, I also had a '69 13'with a 40 merc, 17" prop sounds real tall, I could run a 15" loaded light or when out for speed, but pulling skiers, hauling divers usually favored a 13" cupped prop. Top speed around 30 mph. good luck. Joe
