I have a Lowrance X-15 GPS on my [Boston Whaler boat]. I am a novice. I can not get the water depth to register or stop blinking when I try get the depth. Do I need to factory default and if so how?
Brand new Garmin 160 fish finder. It [wont] show water speed nor distance. Whats up?

My experience is that both Garmin and Lowrance have excellent manuals and customer support. Both problems sound as if they can be solved by reading the manual.

[T]hanks but [I] bought my [L]owrance with the boat. [N]o manuel was included. [T]ried to print but it was about 90 pages. I will call [L]owrance.
Hello--Please note that it will greatly improve the readability of your writing if you follow the simple third-grade rules of capitalization of the initial letter in your sentences and also use capital letters for proper names. I am certain this is not a particularly onerous burden and hope you will comply.--jimh]

Why print it? Just read it online.

Your Lowrance with the GPS unit will give you speed location and graph as a fish finder. Make sure your transducer is running parallel to the water. Why do you need anything else?

I won the Garmin depth finder in a contest. My [L]owrance is an older model (non-color). I read it is best not to have all-in-one because if one is not working all may not or if one is stolen all are stolen.

Thanks JimH for correcting my horrible grammer. I suppose I have been watching my children text message to often and it has begun to rub off on me. I will try to do better. I enjoy this web sit tremendously. I must depart with my second favorite quote:" I feel sorry for someone who can't spell a word more than one way" Samuel Clements aka Mark Twain.

Spelling we are somewhat liberal in our interpretation, but I do love those initial capital letters. And, oh man, do those young people love to text message each other. Maybe we'll get some writers out of it. I am Irish so writing is in my DNA.
