I have recently acquired a Garmin 76Cx handheld GPS as backup to my hardwired Standard Horizon CP175 Chartplotter. I have also acquired the Bluechart Americas chart CD. I have narrowed down the choice to two- the US 022R and the US 023R charts.

The 023R has very detailed charts of the Puget Sound and areas north and south. The chart coverage pretty much stops at a high scale chart of the the Columbia River to Destruction Island.

The 022R covers the Puget Sound area, although at less detail, but covers the Columbia River/Pacific Ocean and areas south with much detail.

Can anyone in the PNW give me their opinions from first hand experience with one, the other or both of the chart groups. Ideally, I would like to have both, but it costs X amount for each unlock code off the CD.

I mainly use the boat for recreational fishing, in the ocean and Puget Sound.

I have the 023 chart which I use almost exclusively in Hood canal and am happy with it.
