Hey Folks, looking for a little help here. I have a customer with a 2003 115 Mercury EFI that will not come up to full power under load. In neutral it will turn up. I started with a test tank of known good fuel, and new primer bulb, no change. Plugs didn't look good so they were replaced, still, no change in performance. Inspected electrical wires and connections and they seem fine. Oil level is good. Did pressure test on fuel rail, and it held steady at 42 psi. This lead me to believe an overheat issue may have put engine in guardian mode. Tested temp sender and it seems fine. No alarms are present, but not sure they were hooked up correctly by the previous mech. Should I go for the hi-pressure pump? Seems expensive not knowing for sure..Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

For repair or diagnostic advice for outboard motors, please use the REPAIRS/MODS discussion.

We'd be glad to help you here with your small boat electrical system problem.
