I am trying to get my Garmin 162 to send all of its waypoints to my new Garmin 3205.

From what I read, connecting the blue wire to the brown, and brown to blue, gets the NMEA 0183 in/out paired.

I successfully transferred my 162 waypoints to my 498 years ago, and I thought the process was the same.

Garmin tech has been over a 30 minute wait +.

BTW. After connecting said wires, I set 162 to "Garmin Sata transfer" and "send waypoints". I then set 3205 to "Farmin data transfer" and "receive waypoints".
J have also alternately set each unit as host, with no luck.

Why not download them to you computer with Garmin MapSource?
That way you have a backup on the computer.

I had the computer connection for my 162. No more.
I had mapsource BlueChart on my old computer running Windows XP. No more.
I don't have cables for 3205.

I'm trying Garmin tech again today.
