As we drove past the Monterey Beach Hotel, it
was only about a knee-high one and a half
break, and no breakers down at Pt. Pinos
where we dive. Hey. We can dive this.

After the first dive, we got a good example
of a good reason to keep your boat bristol:
Some guys in a an old beat up boat got a
whole-nine-yards boarding by the CG while the
coasties just stopped by and said hi and
talked a little diving with us.

Things had started to pick up a bit, so
instead of doing a second dive on there (an
exposed site), we moved to a somewhat
protected site.

When we surfaced after the second dive,
things had turned completely to shit. 20
knots gusting to 30, six foot breaking wind
chop. I didn't even want to get close to the
boat for fear it would clonk me on the head.

The big whale watch boats were getting about
as far as where we were and turning around.

Everybody else had the same idea, and there
was a big traffic jam at the ramp.
The Coasties PFDs blew off their dock into
the harbor and were rescued by a couple of
fellows in a nice 22' Revenge.

All in all, a Whaler kind of day.
