The Chesapeake Bay Boston Whaler Club sponsors this event to recruit Boston Whaler owners to help with swim events we support around the bay.Teaparty is a fun event for the whole family, music, parade and plenty to see. Overnite accommodations can be found at . We provide a pavilion, grills to cook on and restrooms.Docking is avaliable for 20 boats,a strategic use of fenders is suggested. If you have a favorite beach chair bring it we would like to see them. You do not have to be a member of the club, just have a whaler. We welcome new members and console previous owners We are a informal group no president ,treasuer or directors, just a bunch of guys trying to find different ways to enjoy our whalers.Last year it rained so we are hoping for better weather this year. There are various launching ramps along the Chester river.Let me know if you need a ramp permit they are county controlled. For anyone interested in attending I found some information on the festival at . Iím going to try my best to make it this year. I will be coming from Southern PA and last I heard you were required to have a County permit to launch. If anyone has any more information on the ramps in the area I would really appreciate it.

I would probably just launch at Roffs (Spelling?) I really don't know the area that well. You may want to ask some one else.

I launched at a public ramp in Crumpton MD.
It is North of Chestertown and a nice ride down. I really look forward to going this year since I couldn't make it last year. I didn't miss much due to the weather. Hopefully this year will be great. Scott do you want to give a time and place to meet as a group? I'd like to get together, talk and take some photos. I plan to walk around town at some point and then cruise the Chester River a little too. Lets get a head count together. I'm in.

Hi Guys,
We need to get a count going. The more the better. It is less than a month away.
Scott has a waterfront pavillion to dock and even some BW give aways. I even think he said he was putting names in a hat to win a Danbury Mint model! Scott, add some details: when , where, how?

I look forward to seeing lots of Chesapeake Bay area Whalers. I'll snap lots of digital photos! Are you in?

PS This is a great family event with the town fair/crafts/food and awesome scenery and great cruising on the beautiful Chester river.

Mark, What time are you planning to leave from Crumpton? I may be interested in tagging along. I like the idea of a nice easy ride down the river.

What time and where should we meet?
Mark Gallagher posted 05-01-2002 07:19 AM ET (US)     Profile for Mark Gallagher  Send Email to Mark Gallagher
Roger, I plan to put in at Crumpton about 9:30 to 10:00 am. There is a corner store up the street where you can get a daily ramp pass. Scott, what road/ intersection is the store and what is store name?

I assume we'll meet at the pavillion around noon. The pavillion is a huge waterfront building right at Chestertown with dockage. I'm bringing some lunch and will stop there. Maybe we can all gather then and get some photos. Scott, what do you think? Noon?

Scott, I know to use Rt 301 to Crumpton.
Can you give directions from there to store and then to ramp? It's been 2 years and I can't remember. Anyone who want's to meet at the store maybe we can meet there at 9:00am

I'll be at waterfront pavillion right in front of town at 12:00 for a lunch break. I look forward to seeing some Whalers there!

Look for my 95 Dauntless 17 with green bimini and name on transom "Hooked"

I would sure like to make the trip from Annapolis in my little whaler but it's just too far. I took a ride today from Annapolis(winds 5-10mph) up the chester river about 2 miles. I undestand chestertown is a good quite a bit further than that. I would do it if I knew the wind would stay down all day but I know that will never happen. Have fun everyone =)

Hello Scott. Chris and I (families included) are interested. We have no idea where we are going nor have we decided if we are traveling via water or highway. As you know we would be leaving from the severn river. How far is it to chestertown. If anyone has done the trip please advise. Scott, call chris if you have the time. Thanks-Eric

I believe last year they say it is aout 45 minutes to Chestertown from Kent Narrows.
I can only guess at the running time. For me it would take about an hour from Love Point doing around 30 mph. I would imagine if you have done some Stripper fishing you might have been out to Love Point so you could add that time to what I have given you. Or if you go out of Sandy Point add another 20 minutes.

The easiest thing would be to go out of Kent Narrows and go down with that group. Crumpton would be about an hour drive from the Bay Bridge.

I am going out of the Public ramp in Centreville, and the other option would be to go out of Rolf's Warf which is only 10 minutes (by whaler) down river from Chestertown. That is where I launched last year due to the weather.

As you know the temp for the 25th is supposed to be in the mid 80s and for now a 30% chance of showers. This forcast will change before Saturday, most likely for the better.

If you trailer, go over the Bay Bridge (50 & 301) and the first ramp for would be at Kent Narrows.

If you continue stay on 301 North at the 50/301 split (left hand lanes) and in about 8 miles you will come to Rt. 213. If you decide to go to Chestertown this will take you there, go North in 4 miles you will reach Centreville and my ramp, continue and in about 12 miles you will see Rolphs Warf Rd on the left at the end of the road is Rolphs warf and ramp, Scott may make some arrangements with them or it may cost $8.

If you continue on 301 you will see the off ramp for Crumpton. This should be about 20 - 30 more minutes past Centreville exit at 213.

I hope I did not confuse you. If you e-mail me I can give you a call or Scott's phone number. Hope you make it.

I hope this will help everyone.
This is the Maryland DNR Public Ramp Map with information. Please note where 213 ends on the Chester River is where Chester town is.

Please note that Kent Narrows is Piney Narrows on the map. Piney Narrows is the older ramp which the DNR only uses the new ramp Kent Narrows (has 4 ramps) is basiclly under the new bridge.

Thanks Scott, We had a great time at the Tea Party. I posted photos of some of the Whalers at the gathering on my site. The last pic is not a Whaler but any boat that has Redcoats being tossed overboard from is OK in my book.

Thanks rodger8918!
I down loaded a couple of your photos.

I want everyone to know it was a pleasure meeting everyone. And after living here for 19 years this was the first year I actually watched the teaparty re-enactment!

I hope to see everyone again.
Take Care

Hi guys
I had a great time too. I took lots of photos and will post them when I get a chance and send a few to Jim H.. The weather was great and I really enjoyed meeting some people that frequent this site in person. I look forward to some other events that we can gather together. Scott, thanks for your efforts that made it possible.
