Beer, babes, brats, boats. It doesnt matter what you bring!

Shell Key north at Pass-a-grill is secluded if there are winds.
Shell Key South out of Ft. Desoto is all right, lots of traffic and could be windy.

Beer can outside of Apollo Beach Power Plant is shelly and you have to get out of your boat to get ashore.
Beer can in Longboat is secluded and you can drive up on the beach.
We have untill tomorrow to choose. I will bring a little charcoal smokey joe weber grill. It fits under my front locker with squished legs. Brats, green peppers and onions with good hoagie rolls and spicy mustard!

Maybe we can see Dons new 17?

Whos in!

You call it Pat. What time? I have to do some work to the 17' like clean it, change the oil, and lower unit so i may have to take the big boat. Parents are in town, depends on if they are game or not, etc. What is the drill?

The weather forecast said windy and 70.
Shell key @ pass-a-grill sounds good for me!
I'll be at the ramp 800 and be at shell by 9:00. I'll bring the food and grille.
Sound good?

It was a long day. The weather was very windy on the water, small craft advisory were out, but the skies were rich and blue. Not much activity at the boat ramp. Going to Shell key was easy and protected. The winds at my back. The winds were supposed to die down in the PM. Motored down and met up with Bigshot at his house. It turned into a rub rail installation party for his Montauk. It was unexpected fun, but a learning experience. Met his parents, they were delightful people.
The trip back was tough. The winds didn't die down, nor did the seas rest. The waves were a steady 3-5, practically on top of each other, no room between them, running directly into the wind. I got punched around a few times, but I stayed dry. Rarely did a spray come into the boat, but when it did, I was sheltered by the big center console. Love that boat!
I made it back to Shell Key, beached my whaler up on the sandy beach. Two guys in 23 cuddy boats saw me comming in and asked where I came from, I told them and they couldnt believe that I wasnt soaking wet. I set up my grill, sat in the beach chair and cooked up hot bratwurst with red and green peppers, lots of onions and garlic. Had a few cold ones, and watched the sun set over the water.
Beautiful day!

I got up early and it was really windy so I ventured outside and started ripping off my rubrail. Pat called around 10:30 and said he was swinging down. About 11:30 he was close. 10 phonecalls later he was in my canal....STUCK. The tide was out, WAY out. Well since he was stuck and I had a case of beer, why not install a rubrail? With 3 people it was not that bad once you got started. Anyway I will post more in the mods section but wanted to say it came out great and thanks for helping Pat. Glad you made it safe and we finally went out on Sunday and it was pretty nice. ran outside down to Sarasota and back up the ICW. Rubrail is still there so......

Yeah yeah yeah! If you were really our friend you would have been there in the trenches with us installing that unflexible POS.

Happy Turkey Day!
