Still confused? Call 1-800-WHALER9 and get the information from a very nice person at Boston Whaler. No--not a phone bank in Bangalore, India, but a really nice person at the Factory in Florida.
[I hope she comes to the event--she sounds very cute!]

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EVENT
Who is going to this event?
If you don't go, you'll be the only one who did not!
What are we going to do if we don't go fishing?
We're gonna stand around all weekend, eat, and talk about Boston Whalers. Who has a problem with that?
Can I take that 320 Outrage with the twin 250-HP Verado engines out for a test drive?
Maybe. (That is what my dad used to tell me when I asked him if we could buy a Boston Whaler in 1961)
Will Chuck Bennett be there?
You have to come to the event to find out!
Will (a certain well-know person from the forum) be there?
Yes, if he gets out of prison in time.
Who will be there from Whaler?
All the really cool people from the factory are going. You can meet with everybody. Talk to the people who design the boats. Meet the people who build the boats. Get the inside information from all the honcho's in Sales and Marketing.
Who will be there from Mercury?
I heard that Mercury will have a presence at Stuart, too, and they're gonna bring some things to see and do. Like maybe bring your Optimax and get the latest EPPROM firmware, or something like that. Believe me, it will be interesting.
What about Chuck Bennett?
If no one calls Chuck the day before the event and asks him for the complete history of their 1964 13-foot hull, all the wood locating diagrams, and detailed drawings for how to build the Nausett console, wooden pilot seat, and forward deck platform, he probably will have enough time to get everything done by Friday noon and drive down to Stuart! Come on Chuck!
Are you--jimh--are you going?
Yes! I have to go. It is the only way I can get back that hat I lost when I went on the test drive of the 320 Outrage with twin Verado engines in Miami!
Is LHG going?
Yes. LHG is going. But LHG and I won't get there until Saturday, probably.
But what about Chuck Bennett?
OK, OK, I shouldn't tell you this, but Chuck Bennett is not going. He can't, you see. Chuck Bennett does not exist. He is really a very sophisticated computer program that uses artificial intelligence, a huge database of Whaler information, and very skillful social programming to interact with customers on the telephone. Did you think that anyone was really that nice, that polite, that responsive to all your requests?
Plus that touch of New England accent! That was the genius from the programmers. All done with voice sampling software. Very cool.
But wait--let me ask you a question? Are you going?

I would give anything (well, almost anything) to be able to get on a plane and come to this event, just to meet so many of you fine young and old farts that keep this forum for what it is.....great!!
Living in Hawaii may have plenty of advantages, but it is sooooo far away!!!

Maybe I spoke to soon,
Anyone from MA flying down? If we got a group of guys flying out of logan I could consider it, but that would be a long shot.
I was in FL last mouth, it wasn't much nicer then it is here, just warmer rain.

Sorry guys, I can't :(
But if someone wants to call me off of work and school and offer to tow JAZZ down there, I will go!

Holiday Inn Oceanside was nice when my wife and I stayed there in June of 2003 (compliments of one of the VPs at work who won the 2-nite pass in a raffle). However, they weren't exactly setup to accomodate too many boat trailers in the parking lot. Ask about that with anywhere on the list if you intend not to use the marine max lot.
All that information and no coordinates for Marine Max so you can navigate to it with your GPS... N27°10'34.3867" W80°15'29.3494" Those should put you right about the middle of their facility (give or take a few feet). I work 7333 feet (as the crow flies) away from Marine Max of Stuart.
Now that the real itinerary is posted, maybe it's worth the $25 to stop by after work, pickup a T-shirt and grab a handfull of munchies/dinner before I drive home (30 miles away).

I'll be there with my 1968 smirkless sakonnet again. Hate to take the oldest boat again so lets go classics.

Jim, That's all well and good, but I think the real question is: Will Chuck Bennett be there?
posted 03-16-2004 11:01 AM ET (US)
Well, we're going to try it again.
Just made reservations at Monterey Inn & Marina, room rate of $89. Let's face it -- Chuck Bennet notwithstanding, given the Who's Who that will be there, how could you pass this one up?
Maybe we'll get to see Bigshot as well!

If Chuck doesn't exist; how come I keep seeing him at the factory?
Kimberly and I will be there agian, and will be staying across the road with the Whaler gang...see you there, and I hope to get another fancy M&M bowl for inshore Lady Angler:)

Update - Looks like we will be staying over Sat night at the Monterey Inn and probably do some offshore fishing outside the sponsored event.
Look forward seeing all.
BTW - The Al-A-Buy has quit smoking, cold turkey... (new VRO pump)...
posted 03-30-2004 12:16 PM ET (US)
Quit smoking.......how will we spot you......from say.....12 miles?
Al....do me a favor and post a thread on how your VRO pump went bad and it added more oil instead of starving it and ruining the engine. People think that everytime they stuff a piston, it was due to a failing VRO, which we know is not the case.

I just saw this post and would love to take my 76 Revenge down from NC....If I can get the engine back going in time. What a time for the original 76 Mercury to go out. It still runs on 4 cylinders, not 6, mabe I could take it anyway and prove you can't stop a Whaler. I would like to meet everone on the forum.
posted 03-31-2004 08:31 PM ET (US)
Al will just have to keep that grill fired up with hotdogs and brats all day long so everyone knows where he is. Glad you got it fixed. I'm out for
Stuart but in for Sarasota.
