My family and I have rented a house on Anna Maria Island the last week of March. I'm planning to bring our new to us 22 Outrage (likely) or 18 Outrage (less likely). I'm looking for any tips on what to see and do (Ft. Desoto, restaurants, etc.) and/or fishing tips (light tackle inshore or maybe a near shore bottom fishing trip) for the area.

I'm praying for good weather. We've had a pretty mild winter in Chicago but for some reason it really has given me a bad case of cabin fever and I can;t wait to get back to Florida! If anyone else is going to be in the area, maybe we could hook up. Thanks. -- Bud

There are plenty of restuarants in the area. I will get you a list of names. You will be able to cover quite a bit of area from Anna Maria to the North or South. Ft Desoto is good, so is Eggmont Key. You can always meet The Judge on Saturdays at Beercan. Get some local knowledge of the intercoastal for that area. The waters get mighty thin oustside the channels. Oh, you can also check out the beach restoration on Longboat Key. Bulldozers and huge sand pumps.

fno, It would be great if you could get me a couple of restaurants accessible by water. Thanks. -- Bud

I believe you can get to Mar Vista by boat, although some local knowledge may be required. Very cool place.

All of these listed can be reached by water. Mar vista is one of the easier ones, it is in the first cove south of Longboat Pass.

Here is another good site for the area
