Bob from Michigan arrived in L.A. (actually Altadena) last night...he's leaving Tuesday to return to the land of snow..

Is there a Boston Whaler somewhere in this part of the world that would want to take Bob and his son out to explore the Pacific?

Hey Bob- Its a shame, you are here one week too early. We are having a smaller Whaler meet up next Saturday, Nov. 4th, in San Diego.

I would offer to take you out today, Sun. 10/29//06, however, I have been down and out for 48 hours with some nasty respiratory thing. If you are heading this way again in the future, email me and we can make a plan.

thanks for the generous offers, next time I'll plan trips a bit sooner and beg for free fishing way in advance!

Even without a whaler ride, it's been a great weekend...visiting family and friends out here...

Sorry for the late response. I can't take you but you are more than willing to use my 17-Montauk moored in King Harbor (Redondo Beach.) I can meet you at the dock, show you the particulars, point you in the right direction and see you off. I can also loan you my Vessel Assist card in the event of trouble, but I've never had any issues with the current 90 HP Evinrude engine.

Only problem, Redondo's quite a ways from Altadena.

Even though I couldn't pull together a ride on such short notice, this has been one of the reaffirming experiences of my life.

I posted my original message sort of impulsively when I realized my son and I might have some time to do some boating and/or fishing when I was out here in L.A. on a short four day trip.

The response to this has been just amazing, as can be seen by the messages posted above.

In addition to what you see here, I also got a call from pete in michigan saying he had made some phone calls for me and had also lined up a couple of rides (thanks folks, and thanks pete!).

Unfortunately I leave early tomorrow morning and can't take advantage of these very generous offers.

But, any doubts I've had recently about the kindness and generosity of people have been erased...especially as it concerns my fellow Whaler owners and the members of Continuous Wave.

Thanks folks...and, as usual, my offer to do cruises up the Huron River in Michigan (or help arrange for a wading fly fishing trip for our wonderful Smallmouth Bass) still stands, you just need to wait for ice out next spring!

Again, thanks to all for these offers.... I may not have experienced spray in my face...I sure did get a smile from all of this. And you can darn well bet that next time I'm letting you all know WAY in advance..!
