My spouse and I are contemplating a trip to Door Cty over Labor Day. If fellow Whaler enthusuasts are in the area, it might be fun to get together for an afternoon of cruising.

I am not that familiar with the area. Would apprecaite advice on fun/interesting areas to vist by water.

I was in Door Co. earlier this month for a long weekend, and had a fantastic trip as is typical up there. The boating, dining, weather, coffee, scotch, family, friends and marina walks pretty much represent my highlights.

I can strongly recommend Fish Creek if that list above appeals to you. If you prefer less company and fewer amenities, some of the other harbor towns may be preferrable. We stayed at the Fish Creek Motel with three adjacent rooms for us and friends. Great location, somewhat run-down building and interior, but fine outside space.

I slipped my Outrage at the Fish Creek Municipal, as The Alibi Docks (or Marina?) was full at the time. Suggest you make reservations in advance, as these two locations are set up for much larger vessels than our own.

We traveled to Chambers Island sand bar for a day at the beach. We checked out the odd and beautiful Ridges Sanctuary on the Lake side for a nice day trip. Summertime gave us one stellar meal on a Thursday, and one almost forgettable meal on a Saturday with a larger group.

We will be in Sister Bay over the weekend. If anyone wants to get together for a day of cruising, that would be great.

We have not taken many longer boat trips up the Door Peninsula. Looking forward to new adventures.

I live here in Fish Creek. What size boat are you running? There is plenty to see in the area. The best way to do this is to stick to the Green Bay side of the peninsula, and go from Fish Creek north to Gills Rock hugging the shoreline. There are endless bluffs and quiet beaches. If you are adventurous, (and the wind is down) cruise up to Washington Island. It is about a 45 min ride from Fish Creek.

HAve Fun

Thanks for the tips.

We made a run from Sister Bay to Rock Island and back. Nice cruise. Winds picked up a bit on the route back so it took a little more time.

How is the fishing near the reefs of the strawberry islands?
