We took the 22 over to Catalina for the end of lobster season two weeks ago. Had a blast. Here are some shots from the trip. The first two pictures are from last summmer (had the summer fishing rigs on the boat). The rest were from our last trip. Hope you enjoy!

Good pics, those bugs(lobster) looked big, were you free diving or with tanks.

Hi lakeman,

We have found that the big lobsters in Catalina are in deep water this time of year, so we left the tanks at home and went with hoop nets. Lobster season has ended out here. It’s time to work on the 22 ‘till the pelagics roll in this summer.

Take Care,

I bet it was a blast. That's what I call fun.

Matt- great shots. Are those last few shots the mola mola (ocean sunfish)? Did you get in the water with it? They are amazing.

Nice bugs, BTW.

Yeah, it's a blast over there. There is no place I would rather be than camping on Catalina with my family, friends, and Whaler.

We call it a sunfish. They are truly unafraid and gentile creatures. Maybe next time I will get in the water with it.

Looks like a great trip.

We sometimes see molas coming to the surface to be cleaned of parasites by birds:

Occasionally we'll run into one while diving.
