It's not even Halloween and members are already talking about next year's adventures.

Dave P. Isle Royale in late July,

Jim H et al, Georgian Bay TBD

Hoosier, eastern North Channel late June

Buckda (though he doesn't know it yet), Northern Lake Superior

So, can we plan this out so there are no overlapping dates and we can DO IT ALL?

Homeaside and I were talking about a Lake Michigan thing somewhere between us (Grand Haven area) and Con and Martha B - Sutton's Bay sometime next summer. Probably not during Coast Guard Festival.

If Summer 2011 is anything like Summer 2010 it will be incredible.

Dave -

I've not yet made my plans for next summer - but right now, I'm leaning toward a North Channel/Georgian Bay trip. Maybe a few days fishing/camping in the Bustard Islands/French River area.

I think you need to beta test your rig for camping before embarking on an ambitious float plan!

Anyway, if you do get it all in, I expect a full report with references/resources so I can follow in your wake in the next few years.

My tentative plans for the summer of 2011 include a week-long trip with my boat divided up between Wilmington, North Carolina and Lexington, South Carolina, most likely in the week preceding Labor Day. I also have available one full week for a boating vacation which I would like to spend either at Isle Royale, or in the North Channel or Georgian Bay. If it's going to be Isle Royale, I'd like to make that trip somewhere in the mid-July to mid-August time frame. If the North Channel or Georgian Bay, anytime during the summer is acceptable. I can also probably work in one or two long-weekend boating trips during the summer.

I don't think that I'm going to make any effort to plan a Lake Michigan crossing during the summer of 2011. However, I will consider joining such a trip if somebody else decides to plan it. I would also do everything in my power to meet up with the Wisconsin/Minnesota guys if they decide to cross Lake Michigan and visit our side of the lake.

I am tentatively planning a week-long boating vacation for the summer of 2012 in either Door County, Wisconsin, or in the Frankfort/Glen Arbor/Leland area of Michigan with a possible day trip across the lake to Door County.

Nothing is locked in for any of these trips as of today. The trip to the Carolinas, however, will likely be locked in sometime soon.

We had a number of events (two weeks out of country, about a week and a half teaching in and out of the state, a birth in the family, motorcycle trip and finally a wedding) that pretty much precluded doing much boating, even locally. Was amazed that we still had time to pull a 25' up, launch at Tobemory and spend five days in the North Channel. I think we may have only run one tank of fuel through the 21' and the big boat.

Hopefully, we'll be around to participate in at least one forum trip.
