Is there any suction cup type rod holder that can be purchased to hold another few rods, oar, or boat hook? It seems like they would be perfect add ons to the gunwhales. Should I just expect to drill and screw these in?

I'm looking for the same thing. I'm putting two rail-mount rod holders on but my real problem is the oar. You need to have one but there is NOWHERE to put it. At least on the classics, I could lodge it between the rails and the inside of the hull...damn gunwale mounted rails!!!

Not sure about the seas you fish in, but I would not trust a suction cup to hold one of my rod-reels. What about the rail mount tube types? You could fasten them to the vertical rail stanchions inside the boat ? If you take a cooler along for a fishbox, consider mounting one of the multi rod holders to the sides or front of the cooler.

I mounted a paddle under the pole light using "Percs" (brand) Oar and Pole Holders. Their part # PH2A. Price = $12.99. Both West Marine and Boaters World have them. These holders get screwed to the boat sides.

I use suction J hooks that are made of plastic found at Walgreen’s. They rotate down to apply pressure to the suction cup and will not move. They can be placed anywhere on the boat. You can get them in two sizes, one holds the butt of the rod and the smaller one holds the mid-section of the tip. Keeps the rod out of the way and also double as a towel holder. I also use the small one on the console to hold my hat.
