Went back to Cat Island out of Gulfport, MS, after work. Got into more serious wave action than in the past. At the tips of the island, waves were steeper and closer together. The Montauk cleared, prop and all, a couple of times and landed solidly. The Montauk performed well through out various wave directions. Jim

Similar experience this afternoon. Strong northwest wind on the southside of Cape Cod. Waves were VERY big off the tip of Monomoy. Nothing I haven't been in before with my old BW17, but the roughest trip with the new M170.

All in all, the boat handled everything that was thrown its way. I came very close to burying the bow a few times.

The most importantly my wife said she felt more secure in the new 170 versus the old 1964 17 footer.

The extra beam makes a world of differnce.

Max, Sounds like you were in rougher stuff. But the boat is tough in my book. Jim
