anyone running smart tabs (automatic trim tab system) on there 170 ?
No wires, no hydraulics. Suppose to be really easy to install.

SMART wires, no hydraulics...somewhat useless

thrown some of these in the trash before.
they will only minimally assit in time to plane, they are of ZERO use in leveling the vessel from port to strbd., vice vera,

if you are trying to trim boat fore-to-aft..stick with
engine tilt, prop change, or a bolt on fin for your anti-cavitation on engines lower unit assy.

Whenever tabs are providing lift, they are creating drag. Real tabs can be set to provide neither when lift isn't needed, while "smart tabs" are always creating both. At low speeds it's applied to lift the boat stern, as speeds increase that goes away, and it's then applied to compress the springs. The springs wouldn't compress if there was no lift (and hence drag). Their advertising is misleading in this respect.

I second the sentiment that real trim tabs are better than these things. The Smart Tabs are not all that cheap and you get so-o-o much more with the real thing.
