Well after much surfing through this forum and evaluating a number of boat options I ordered a new Montauk 170 yesterday at the Providence boat show. I will take delivery sometime in April.
I just want to thank everyone who has responded to my questions and look forward to being part of the BW community. This forum is worth it's weight in gold and it is one of the reasons I chose the Whaler.

Welcome to the 170 camp. I'm very pleased with my 170. You'll be amazed what that little skiff can do.

Just curious what you paid and did you consider "Tabasco".

Tabasco is one of the sites most popular Montauks and is for sale.

Thanks everyone. Since there are not a lot of options I went with a pretty standard package. Fishing package. 90hp 4S, bow cushion. I will wait on the Suntop and get that directly from Mills. Will scour this forumn for the best combo of electronics for both fresh water and inshore fishing.

I waited until the boat show season because I felt it was the best time to get a great deal on a great boat. There are some real good incentives including extended warranties on engines. With a little negotioating I would recommend that anyone looking for a deal now is the time. Most large companies want to start the year off with a good 1st quarer and will swweeten the pot to get the deal done.

Again I just want to thank everyone that contributes to this forumn for helping me make my decision and look for to being part of the Whaler community

Completed my purchase of a 2005 Boston Whaler Nantucket with the 150 HP Optimax at the Cleveland Boat Show last evening. I wish to thank everyone for what I consider to be a post-doctoral education in "Whalering". Previous thread is accurate...the advice received is/will be invaluable! Thanks to everyone! Boat shows apparently do sell boats.
