Re: No seat clamps on 1963 13?

From your picture, it is unclear to me how your thwarts are being retained. My concern with that setup is that the thwarts could depart if not secured (e.g. when being trailered at 65 MPH).

The [1970 boat] has profoundly serious hull damage, and the [1974 boat] has been thoroughly trashed over many years. The asking prices in both cases are absurdly high. That's my opinion.

I did similar with my 1966 13-foot Sport, mounting the fuse panel under the console. It's absurdly over-engineered, but oh, well.

My guess is that someone used steel wool on or around the non-skid deck. The addition of saltwater "enhanced" the visibility of the tiny steel fragments.

Before towing a long distance (to Cape Cod) this week, I examined the trailer under my 1970 16-foot Whaler. This site's reference page on the 13 foot hull describes the maximum horsepower as being "20-HP on early tiller steering models." It's not clear to me if this limitation would apply to okish's boat and his proposed 30-HP motor.

Do you think that yesterday's pounding ride damaged the battery? Whatever the case, your battery was near the end of its expected life.
