With a Boston Whaler boat, the thickness of the hull laminate is probably less than in a typical fiberglass hull. PORT--you are in Lowrance support Hell. I don't know how they could suggest that the POINT-1 AP cannot receive GPS satellites. That makes no sense. It is receiving GLONASS satellites, which is much harder for most of their devices to do.

My experience with a classic 13 SPORT is limited to a boat with remote steering and controls. That set-up makes for a great little boat. I think the remote controls and steering would be much preferable to a tiller-steering outboard.

The mechanical steering was probably a Teleflex helm. That brand is now called Seastar Solutions. There are many choices in their mechanical cable steering helms.
