Consider fabricating in plastic. Use a heat gun to bend the corners, curves. Make a cardboard template. Transfer template to plywood mold. Lay plastic strip, heat with heat gun and press into shape. Let cool. I think the challenge will be picking which type of material you want to use. I would start...

Take a look at the boats at the docks around Cape Ann. Grady and Whaler cabin models are more prevalent for a reason.

I see the popularity of the new Downeaster models as more a reflection of a resurgence of vanity and conspicuous consumption.

All owners who do not use FMT for a replacement tank, provide the existing tank or measurements they take for fabricating the new tank. There are no readily available plastic tanks that will fit the cavities of either model. Foaming in the tanks by the factory led to many failures (~20-25 years). If...

Last comment from me. If you purchase a 60-HP engine and you can't plane, you will take the proverbial bath (financially) selling it and buying a 90-HP. If you buy a 90-HP, you will have to focus on something else because all of this is moot. Just because you have a 90-HP does not mean you have to g...

The cabin [weight] does not make much difference. Presuming the proper engine height and a stainless steel propeller I would expect the hull to plane at 12 to 14-MPH. In your engine calculations, keep in mind it is not just about top speed. You also need to factor in engine torque. From time to time...
