I-Command Engine Warnings Option

Postby FredBoykin » Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:04 pm

While operating my Evinrude I-Command gauge, in the SYSTEM SET UP menu there is a submenu for ENGINE WARNINGS. There I got the screen display shown below:

Q1: what does the notation "v1.111B Wrngs" refer to? I assume it is a version number.

The only warnings I had previously seen were LOW OIL and ENGINE OVERHEAT.

Q2: should this option be enabled?

The I-Command gauge user's guide doesn't go into much detail.

Return to that option in the menu and press the ENTER button. Describe what occurs next.

The notation "v1.111B Wrngs" sounds like a firmware revision number.

The option at the ENGINE WARNING menu is to either TURN ON or TURN OFF the function.

I assume safest choice is to select TURN ON.

Q3: why would I choose to TURN OFF the warnings?

Perhaps choosing TURN OFF warnings would allow the aural warning horn to be silenced until the problem can be remedied.

I don't know how safety will be affected, but I cannot see any harm in enabling the engine warnings.

I cannot foresee a reason to disable the warnings. Again, I cannot see any harm in enabling the I-Command gauge to display ENGINE WARNING data.

ASIDE: to reduce glare and reduce reflections in the display surface, drape a black cloth over the display and over yourself when photographing the display.

I have a question for you: what is the I-Command gauge firmware version?
