The new Suzuki DF30A is an impressive outboard and looks like a good fit for a classic 13-footer. The remote control version comes in long shaft only, has power tilt, and only weighs 163-lbs. It should move a 340-lbs Boston Whaler 13-footer pretty good. The Suzuki DF30A is the first outboard I've ever seen with an air filter.
Do any readers have a Suzuki DF30A?

Re: New Suzuki DF30A
I just repowered my 1980 Sport 13 with a new Suzuki DF30A and love it. Very quiet and smooth. I am pleased with the acceleration; but have not yet run at full throttle for any extended period since I am still operating during break-in period.
Re: New Suzuki DF30A
My 13 Sport is having [a new Suzuki DF30A outboard engine] installed now. Glad to see this thread. [The Suzuki DF30A outboard engine] does seem to be a great fit for 13-footer.
The sales person said [the Suzuki DF30A outboard engine] did not come in with his last order--delays! I want to get out on the water!
I purchased [the Boston Whaler SPORT 13] boat last summer with a Mercury 402 that did not run. I was able to get [the Mercury 402] started, and ran [the Mercury 402] on the water this summer for 15 minutes. Then [the Mercury 402] started to stutter and eventually quit.
I want a reliable engine and the Suzuk DF30A seems to be the answer. The cost [of the Suzuki DF30A outboard engine] was substantially less than the E-TEC 30 I was also considering. The [Suzuki DF30A outboard engine] purchase price includes fuel tank, fuel line, and controls.

Re: New Suzuki DF30A
The measure of a good product is how easily you can raise its price.
When purchasing a new engine, the additional accessories that are included are up to the dealer making the sale.

Re: New Suzuki DF30A
The DF30A is considered a portable by Suzuki, so it comes complete in the box at a very competitive price; the remote version includes engine, propeller, control box with harness, fuel tank, and fuel line--all but the shift and throttle cables. It looks like a bargain to me. It's a high-quality, EFI, lightweight, well-designed engine and even has an included promotional-6-year-warranty program now--near perfect for a classic 13-foot Boston Whaler.
Re: New Suzuki DF30A
I re-powered a 1979 13' Sport with a Suzuki with a DF25A. I purchased it from the internet shipped to my address, it came with everything you need(except the cables, you have to order separately). It is a great set up, and the performance is great with a max speed about 25mph.
To save money at the time, I elected to buy the DF25A because it was available without trim and tilt. I regret not buying the DF30A trim and tilt.

Re: New Suzuki DF30A
At 489 cc, the Suzuki DF30A has the smallest displacement of any 30 HP outboard motor.
Yamaha 30 -- 747 cc
Yamaha 25 -- 498 cc
Honda 30 -- 552 cc
Tohatsu 30 -- 526 cc
Mercury 30 -- 526 cc
Evinrude 30 -- 577 cc *
* 2-stroke displacement. Equivalent to about 690 cc of 4-stroke displacement.

Re: New Suzuki DF30A
Isn't one of Suzuki's anthems: "There's no replacement for displacement"?
Re: New Suzuki DF30A
I wanted to follow up now that I have spent some time with this new Suzuki DF30A on my 1976 Sport 13.
I really enjoy this engine. Smooth, quiet, plenty of acceleration and power for me. GPS top speed of 31.4 mph today. I cannot ask for more.
We are enjoying summer weather this October in Michigan.
