My dad and I just purchased our second Boston Whaler, a 1992 27 Walkaround.
[Recommend a vendor] to supply new isinglass including fabric, and a full boat cover that would go over the top with Raytheon radar dome and cover the engines as the boat will be on a trailer.
The boat is currently in Massachusetts and will be coming to California in April. Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Josh
1992 27 Walkaround: Source for canvas
Re: 1992 27 Walkaround: Source for canvas
If the 1992 27 WALKAROUND has canvas now, look for the label of Wm. J. Mills & Co., usually found in silk and sewn on the flying top inside near the windscreen zipper. If your boat has Mills canvas, then Mills can probably make replacement, if they still have those patterns. MIlls canvas was typically the OEM canvas for a c.1992 boat from Boston Whaler. Look for their label to confirm.
I don't know that any other vendors have off-the-shelf canvas for a Boston Whaler boat made in 1992. Another option is to find a local canvas maker, and hire them to make custom canvas to fit your boat. To decide what sort of custom canvas maker you should use, visit a local marina and look at boats with nice canvas. Find out who made the canvas. Then talk to that canvas maker.
I used that procedure to find a canvas maker in my area. His canvas jobs were works of art. I found out there was two-year waiting list. And no one ever asked about the price. It was just a given that you'd pay any price for his work. That guy was not a viable option. I did notice a lot of very nice canvas made by a local shop. They're getting my next canvas job.
I am completely serious about this method: look at many examples of the canvas maker's prior work. That will tell you from whom to get new custom canvas.

Thank you both for the recommendation. We talked to the 5th generation Mills owner and he said he could not do it as he did not have patterns for our model. He also did not have a suggestion as to who could which is why I posted here.
The former owner of the boat did not have isinglass or any of the marine vinyl pieces that go along the hull on the inside of the rear and sides of the back of the boat. We are currently looking into replacing these as well.
Regards,
Josh

It is extremely unlikely that there is any canvas maker who has patterns for your boat. You will need to have the canvas made locally by a canvas artisan who will fit it to your boat. Again, I recommend choosing the artisan based on their prior work. Also, if you are soon re-locating to California, it might be better to wait and have the canvas made there. Usually a good canvas maker will offer some follow-up service to his product, and if that maker is 2,000-miles away from the boat, it might be hard to accomplish any minor adjustments in the fit or make little modifications to suit.

If the boat is currently in Mass, I would look at getting a good canvas maker out there while it is in New England. There are a lot more quality canvas makers out there and the prices are much less than the west coast.

We may have a specialty cover (not custom) that will work to cover the entire boat for storage. We manufacturer boat covers in South Carolina. Does the 29'5" centerline length include the length of the whaler drive? If not, what is the length of the whaler drive? What is the height measured from the deck to the top of the hardtop and/or dome?

It is over 30' from the bow (pulpit not included) to the end of that salt shaker marine Whaler Drive bracket. Include the motors and you are over 32.
