Hi all. I want to add two gunwale-mounted rod holders to my 1996 Outrage 17. What angle they are?
Anyone have [a source for gunwale-mouted rod holders]?
Thanks.
Gunwale Rod Holder
Re: Gunwale Rod Holder
Boston Whaler typically used rod holder made by Lee's of Miami. They are available in various angle orientations (0-15-30-degree). It should be simple to deduce the angle of an existing rod holder by just observation of it. Use of a protractor can confirm the estimation of the angle measurement.
Lee's are still in business and are sold through many distributors and retailers.

Re: Gunwale Rod Holder
When you figure out your angle make sure you drill the hole at an angle.
If you drill straight down you stand a good chance of not having enough 'gunwale' to support the rod holder.
Get your angle, figure out how to drill the both the angle and orientation (straight back, to the side at 45 degrees etc).
I use a gadget that attached to my drill that allows any angle to be drilled.
Once you get your 1/4" hole, buy a foot long 1/4" drill bit and chuck this into your hole saw. That will allow you to follow your original angle exactly.
Two hints, use the exact to closest fitting size hole saw you need, and do a test bore in a 2x4 to make sure both your angle and hole size is correct.
With the test fitting, also drill the mounting holes to see how they follow through to the opposite side.
