I have a 2010 Evinrude E-TEC 150 engine with 323-hours run time.
Today I tilted up the engine to launch the boat into the water. I tied up at the dock parked my car. When I got back to the boat the engine would not budge, not up nor down. I could hear the trim and tilt motor spin but no movement.
I released the pressure screw and the engine came down. After that I tried the trim switches, both on the engine and at the throttle; everything worked perfectly and kept on working the whole day.
Is there anything I should be worried about?
2010 Evinrude E-TEC Power Trim and Tilt
Re: 2010 Evinrude E-TEC Power Trim and Tilt
I suggest:
--check the level of the hydraulic fluid in the trim system; the fluid may be low; and
--check the lubrication in the engine mount tilt tube; the tilt tube may have corrosion.
Engines used in saltwater and a tropical climate are prone to corrosion forming in the engine mount, particularly in the pivot for the trim-tilt axis.
