180 DAUNTLESS Engine Removal: Step-by-step Instructions180 Dauntless

Give me step-by-step instructions for pulling a Mercury OptiMax 135-HP engine from the [transom] of a 180 Dauntless.

I want to replace the mechanical steering system, including the helm.

This boat has the SmartCraft gauges. The wiring, hoses, and cables all pass through the same stern passage.

Step 1: obtain the engine lifting accessory for attachment to the flywheel.

You don't need to derig the engine.

Simply support the engine, loosen the bolts and angle the engine to port so you can remove the steering rod.
