Is there a difference in the 190 NANTUCKET/OUTRAGE hull of a 2004 and a 2017 model?
The [maximum] horsepower rating is 150-HP on 2004 and 200-HP on 2017. Why?
If [the hulls are the] same can we use a 200-HP?
I realize the weight of our 150 Optimax is only 450-lbs.
I may re-power our 2004 Nantucket with a new modern 4-stroke.
Thanks--M
Edited - to correct 2004 Nantucket (not Outrage) Thanks Don !!

If the manufacturer changed the rating, it does not become retroactive to hulls made earlier. The hull you have will continue to have the same rating as the manufacturer gave it when it was made.
For more see the FAQ, which answers the question you seem to be asking

Thanks Jim. Kind of figured it was not retroactive.
My main question is: "Is there a difference in the 190 OUTRAGE hull of a 2004 and a 2017 model?" If so was wondering what was the difference that they raised the HP rating.

From what I found the dry weight is the same, 2050 lbs, so one would think the hulls are the same.

Re: Difference between 2004 and 2017 model year 190 Outrage
Was there a 190 Outrage in 2004?
There was a Nantucket 190 which weighed 2050-lbs; a 2017 Outrage 190 weighs 2050-lbs.
Another weird thing--to me at least--the 2017 190 Montauk weighs 1900-lbs, less than the 2004 Nantucket which became the Montauk 190 later.
These are all dry weights.

Re: Difference between 2004 and 2017 model year 190 Outrage
The Nantucket was introduced in 2003. It was renamed the Outrage 190 with no changes in 2006.
There is no differences in the hull. The interior liner may have changed.
When the Nantucket was introduced, Mercury was struggling to introduce 4 strokes. It had a powerhead rebranding deal with Yamaha for some engines. The recently introduced Verado's were V6's and way too heavy. The 115 4 stroke was the largest motor available under 510lbs in 2003.
The hp rating changed with the introduction of the 4 cylinder Verado's. First the 135 came out, so the max hp increased. It rose again with the introduction of the 4 cy. 150hp. The maximum engine weight has never changed.

Wow is this true? "The 190 Nantucket became the Montauk 190"
I looked at the 2017 Montauk 190 and Outrage 190 side by side at dealer. The hulls did not look the same. Montauk 190 seemed to have modified Chimes and Lifting Stakes almost tri-hull like and a much squarer Stem. Also looked like less Free Board.

Re: Difference between 2004 and 2017 model year 190 Outrage
The 190 Nantucket did not become the 190 Montauk. I have a 2013 190 Outrage. As far as I can tell, the 190 Outrage and 190 Nantucket are the same identical hull and cap. Minor differences when the 4-stroke was introduced was the lack of oil fill cap on the splash well. Also, in 2013 the swim platform was moved to the port side, which made more sense since that is where the stern seat is removable.
Current boat - 2018 270 Dauntless, Twin Mercury 225 Verado
Previous boat - 2013 190 Outrage, Mercury 150 EFI - SOLD

Re: Difference between 2004 and 2017 model year 190 Outrage
Great that you pointed out that the Swim Platform was changed. Been wondering why since we got our 190 Nantucket. Does the platform thru bolt. If not I image those are some tough bolts to get to.

Re: Difference between 2004 and 2017 model year 190 Outrage
See how easy it is to learn stuff? I'm not arguing because I am wrong. I just thought the Nantucket was not an Outrage since they didn't call it an Outrage for some reason. They had bigger Outrages in 2004, why didn't they names the 190 model an Outrage if it was the same hull?
