Some litterature I have that is dated 11/85 states that my Outrage should have PYHI Deck Plates. My Outrage 18 was built in June of 1985 and has Beckson Deck Plates.... I talked to Beckson about this and they said that in order to have their Beckson Deck Plates used on Whalers they would need to create the "Thin" ring for the 6" Deck Plates so it would fit the existing hole that Whaler already had in their Floor. Once Beckson did this, Whaler started using the Beckson Deck Plates on many of their Hulls. (maybe not in all the Hulls, but most?)

The custom color that Whaler ordered from Beckson was "Khaki", however at this time they do not offer the Khaki color in the 8" standard or the 6" Thin ring. They do make the "Beige" color which they said is very close to Khaki and is available in all 3 models Whaler used.

1. 8" standard ring, Dimple Non-Skid center, Beige
2. 6" Thin ring, Dimple Non-Skid center, Beige
3. 6" Thin ring, Clear center, Beige (Obviously this one is for the Fuel Gauge.

I am assuming that the Beckson Plates will fit in the same hole as the older PYHI and would like some input from anyone that has done this. As far as I know from researching this forum, the PYHI Deck Plates are no longer available in the correct size or configuration.

The good news is that Beckson has just made a new run of all 3 Deck Pltates listed above in the Beige color. I just purchased all the replacement Beckson Plates for my Outrage in the Beige color.. It is hard to tell how close this color is to the Khaki as these new plates are obviously NEW... The originals are 18 years old, faded, yellowed, and dirty.... Obviously the new ones should look new and of course the deck of the boat is not... I will probably be changing out these Deck Plates sometime this coming winter.

In reviewing this thread while searching for some information I realized you pose a question I know the answer to: Beckson plates will NOT fit the holes that the PYHI plates went into. They are slightly different sizes and are not interchangeable.

It seems the PYHI plates may still be available (under the Bomar brand name)

Funny, but the day before you posted this, I was looking through my newly arrived Hamilton Marine Catalog... Low and behold, I saw BOWMAR/PYHI Deck Plates...

I'm sure this will help out some of those people with PYHI deck plates even though they may not be available in the same original Whaler color. I also don't see the clear plate for the gas gauge, but they may have them..

Thanks for the info on the non-interchangability.....

I did not ask Beckson that question when I talked to Matt Reed.
I don't see any reason they wouldn't but then I guess someone will have to call or email...

If you decide to call or email him, would you please let us know... I will do the same when I get a chance. I wouldn't mind have some new 0-ring also....

Question for you....
How are the Rivets in your Deck Plates holding up???
Are any of them loose?
How is the condition of the Silicone Sealant around the outside of the Deck Plate???

I had a few loose Rivets and the Silicone was also coming loose.
Although I have new Deck Plates, I am still trying to save the original ones.. I drilled out the old Rivets and pulled out 1 of the 6" Deck plates.. Cleaned it up and put on new silicone and instead of using Rivets, I replaced them with #6 stainless steel screws per Beckson installation instructions...
Seems to work and looks good too.

Beckson made a special run on the correct color for Boston Whaler Deck Plates. "Khaki".

Prior to this special run, the beige or tan, was the closest color you could get.

I purchased 2 full sets of the Khaki colored ones. Two 6" Dimple Thin Ring, One 6" clear Thin Ring, Two 8" Dimple Standard Ring are needed for one Outrage 18'.

Not sure exactly how many are needed for the 22'.

If you didn't order the Khaki color, call them back and ask them if they still have any left.
