I am new to Boston Whaler boats. I am trying to identify the year of my boat but having some difficulties.
I bought the boat from an older couple who were not sure either. There have definitely been some modifications and paint jobs.
The Metal tag reads
DOT11445 - 1220 Sport Fisherman
50 HP max rating
16ft
The numbers 1080 are imprinted into the metal below the HIN (DOT11445).
In the photo the boat looks like an c.1980 boat. Any help would be appreciated as we are aiming to restore her back to her original condition.

Re: Boston Whaler 80's "Sport Fisherman" - Please Help Identify
I hate to be the bearer of bad news. That is not a Boston Whaler.

The boat seen above is not a Boston Whaler boat.
If the seller represented this boat as a Boston Whaler boat, you have been defrauded.

Looks like a $1500-$2000 lake boat that was built in the 1980s. While it's definately not a Boston Whaler, don't let that you deter you from going out and enjoying it.
If it was marketed and sold to you as a Boston Whaler, then I'd probably have a conversation with the seller if you overpaid.

Thanks to you all! This is what we figured. The owners knew nothing about the boat and we didn't pay a stupid amount for it so nothing to be upset about. I think the first owners frauded the ones we bought it off of, but hey such is life.
She runs well and is a great boat regardless, but now I know what to look for on the HIN when we go to purchase a real Boston Whaler boat.

Glad to hear. Go have some fun with your family on your new boat.
