1998 150 Dauntless 60-HP Fuel Economy

I have a 1998 Dauntless 150 with a Mercury 60-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine and a 12-gallon fuel tank. We mainly are on a lake but are planning to do some trips in the area. The first is a trip to the Hudson River next spring, but the main one is to navigate around New York City. To circle NYC is 30 miles, so I'm curious if we can do that on a single 12-gallon tank. The sweet spot of our cruising speed seems to be 20 mph in good water.

Looking for any feedback on fuel economy or a trip around NYC.

Classic two-stroke-power-cycle engines burn about 1-GPH per 10-HP. At full-throttle a 60-HP engine will consume 6-GPH.

To travel 30-miles at 20-MPH will need 1.5-hours.

Even at full-throttle, in 1.5-hours the engine should only consume 9-gallons. If you start with 12-gallons, you should have 3-gallons remaining. If in doubt, carry a small pour-container or can of fuel to add to the fuel tank if necessary.

I circumnavigated Manhattan on two occasions with my classic 13-foot Sport. I ran out of gas the first time, so I brought a spare can of gas the second time. This was with a 35-HP classic two-stroke engine and 6-gallon gas tank.

You will be fighting the current for a portion of your trip; I found the Harlem River to be especially grueling: I spent a lot of time at 3/4 throttle but making poor headway.
