[Solicits estimates of value for an 1987 OUTRAGE 18]. I have owned the boat since 2009. The boat is in exceptional condition, has been lightly used, and to my knowledge has always been stored inside in unheated space.
Included are: the original OKT steel trailer, a 1987 Johnson 150, a 1988 Yamaha 25, two Cannon Lake Troll down riggers, a [Humminbird] 788ci chart plotter with western USA map card and integral SONAR, a CB radio, and a VHF Marine Band radio.
While the engines are old, they run well. The Johnson was tested two years ago and had 80-PSI cylinder pressure in all. The VRO has been removed.
Any [advice] on the price and potential buyers will be welcome.
This boat does not need to be restored just updated.
Boat is located in Palisade, Colorado. I can be reached on email at Geneb566@gmail.com.
Thank you, Gene B

Re: Appraisal 1987 Outrage 18
Given the 1987 OUTRAGE 18 is a fresh water boat, has no bottom paint, and was not heavily modified, I proffer the boat would go for anywhere from $7,000 to $9,000.
A non-Whaler enthusiast will not appreciate its condition and pedigree. Buyers from the west coast will pay more since their prices are higher.

Re: Appraisal 1987 Outrage 18
This 1987 OUTRAGE 18 appears in the recent photographs to be in very good condition, with very little modification. For buyers seeking the wooden gunwale look, this is perhaps one of the newest OUTRAGE 18 boats to still have them.
The trailer appears to be nicely fitted to the boat. Although a painted trailer, it appears to be in good condition, which tends to affirm the freshwater use. (A painted trailer from 1987 used in saltwater would be a rust bucket.)
The engines are a bit odd. Having a 25-HP auxiliary seems quite unusual. The OMC V4 is a legacy engine that could run forever with proper care.
The location and time of year will tend to hold down the appraisal. Selling a boat when there is snow on the ground is always difficult. Also, I do not equate Colorado as a big Boston Whaler boating region. I don't know if the scarcity of Boston Whaler boats in Colorado adds-to or subtracts-from their value out there.
On that basis, if the boat were in the Great Lakes, in July, the boat in the water and ready to be demonstrated, I would expect an asking price quite a bit higher than Phil's appraisal of $9,000.
I may be biased, because I just love the OUTRAGE 18, particularly ones with nice wood gunwales.
For me, the biggest drawback in selling will be the engine, which, as you say, is old, but the price will reflect that deficiency.
If I were truly in the market for a classic OUTRAGE 18 and found this one nearby for sale for $12,000, then I would be right over to make a careful inspection and I'd bring sufficient funds.

I agree with Jim,
Here in Southern California that boat wouldn't last a day on the market . . . even for $12,000.00
One of the biggest attributes is that there is no bottom paint, which is increasingly difficult to find.
I will pass the word around, that boat won't last long.
Good luck with the sale.

Very pretty boat. Good comments by everyone. If it’s helpful there are two Whaler Outrage 18 boats of similar style to yours that show up on Facebook marketplace in the Houston TX area. Though one is a dual seat rather than the classic RPS. Not a lot of detailed info but it’s at least a couple data points for comparison. They’ve been there a while so there may be problems with those boats that aren’t present in yours. One does have a recent Yamaha F150 on it.
Also I agree with the west coast comment - the ones I have perused (window shopping) always seem to have higher asking prices than other areas of the country. It’s not a terrible drive from CA to the western slope for an interested buyer. Hell, I’d almost do it.
Would love to see more photos of your vessel.

The boat is clean as it gets but between the trailer and the fresh water engines....they MIGHT be $4-5k. How much is the bare hull worth is anyone's guess. As a package I would think in that condition in the $8-10k range. I just bought(in FL) a very nice original hull with 20yr old bottom paint that is nearly worn off and a 190hr 2004 Yamaha F115 and no trailer for $5500. I just added a 2013 alum trailer, new Mills canvas and a used Bimini top. Once I do my usual buff, detail, and new decals, I might have $8k in it and I would think it might be a $10-12k boat.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
Re: Appraisal 1987 Outrage 18
Another thing to consider is, that if this boat spent its life, or the vast majority of it, in freshwater, I would feel pretty confident that the fuel tank is in (at least) reasonably good condition. Replacing the fuel tank on an 18 Outrage is costly, especially if you have to pay someone else to do it. If i didn't already have an 18 Outrage, I'd be driving to Colorado right now.
Re: Appraisal 1987 Outrage 18
I appreciate everyone's comments and recommendations about my boat. You guys are certainly the experts and very knowledgeable about everything Boston Whaler. I really appreciate Phil T for helping me load the photos on the website and jimh's detailed comments on my boat and how to go about marketing it. I will start the effort sell it in the Spring (April) when the snow is off the ground and I can get it on the water to demo it. I will post it on Continuouswave marketplace, local Craigslist and the Facebook site that Phil T recommended.Asking price will be in the $12,000 range. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Appraisal 1987 Outrage 18
Very nice boat. I have restored an 1987 OUTRAGE 18 and an 1993 OUTRAGE 22.
I would expect to [get at least] $12,000 for a boat in that condition. From the photos I can assure you that to buy a used OUTRAGE 18 from a saltwater environment and bring it back to the condition of the boat shown above will cost well over the selling price.
I would have bought that boat immediately if I didn't have mine.
