Q1: what causes the engine instrumentation system to produces a "CHECK PITOT" warning on a 2005 VERADO 225-HP engine?
BACKSTORY
Recently the 2005 VERADO 225-HP engine has been alerting with a "CHECK PITOT" error when engine speed is increased. After checking the channel on the lower unit and not seeing any blockage, I removed a side "chap" today and found that the lower tube section was missing from the shift shaft guide connector downward. I will order a new section of tubing, and in the short term I rigged up a connection with some tubing I had around.
Figures 1 and 2 I illustrate the problem and the temporary repair, which I will test on October 7,2025.
I could not find information online showing how the connection was configured. I was concerned as the parts diagram shows the PITOT sensor as part of the fuel system, and I have noticed some hesitation at WOT.

Re: "Check PITOT" Alert on 2005 VERADO 225
In Figure 1 there appears to be no sign of an original tube connecting the Pitot to the upper fitting.
Q2: are you sure there was ever a tube there?
